Posted In : Events Latest News

It was a busy weekend for the Women, Men and Masters rowers of Bedford Rowing Club.

The Women's squad fresh from success at Bedford Amateur Regatta and Nottingham City entered four crews at Peterborough Spring Regatta.

The women's senior squad doubled up in the Women's Intermediate Three Coxed Fours and Women's Intermediate Three Quadruple Sculls events, reaching the final in both on the Saturday.  Debra raced for the first time in the Women's Novice Single Sculls Event on both the Saturday and the Sunday

In the Coxed Four they lead their heat by clear water to progress to the semi-final, where again they progressed in the winner's position, to get a favoured middle lane.  In the Quadruple Sculls semi-final, they took the 2nd qualifying spot.

The Masters D Coxed Four raced powerfully off the start to be strong contenders during the first half of the race.

The Men's squad travelled to the Metropolitan Regatta at Dorney Lake in new look combinations in both the VIII and the two coxed fours. The VIII started the day well by comfortably progressing from their heat straight to the final of IM3 8+ later in the day where they acquitted themselves well against a strong field.

Both of the Coxed Fours came through the initial heats to qualify for the IM3 4+ repechage. The Bedford A crew controlled the race from the start to get through to the final where, as in the 8, they performed admirably against some strong crews recording a respectable time.
