Bedford win at World Veteran Champs in Banyoles - 2007

Press Release from Bedford Rowing Club – 17th July 2007

BEDFORD ROWERS STRIKE GOLD IN SPAIN

A small, but select, band of veteran rowers attended the Banyoles Masters Regatta last weekend and returned with three golds, one silver and one bronze.

Gareth Swann-Brown from Star gained a bronze in the mens single sculls and then teamed up with the local Banyoles club to take gold in the quad sculls.

Alastair Forsythe, Ian Darnell, Shirl Musselle and Chris Wisbey from Bedford Rowing Club snatched gold in the coxed fours by 1.3 seconds and later on also won the coxless fours event beating crews from Germany, France and Spain.

For the last race of the day they joined forces with a crew from Marseille in the eights event and gained a creditable silver medal.
