Peteborough Regatta - 9/10 June 2007

Press Release from Bedford Rowing Club – 11th June 2007

Bedford Rowing club’s womens novice four scored a double win at the Peterborough Regatta weekend. On the Saturday, the crew of Liane Higgins, Katie Keene, Sara Orme, Jayne Smith and cox Lydia Swift won their 1st heat convincingly to progress directly to the final, where they beat 3 other crews including local competition from Star Club. Racing over the 500 metre course on the Sunday in the Womens Senior 4 event, they dominated their semi-final to win by 8 seconds and then in the final, the only 5-lane race of the day, won by a clear 4 seconds over crews from Warwick, Derby and Peterborough Rowing clubs.

On the Saturday, the Junior 15 double combination of Ross Mizen and Andrew Walker raced well to record a win over Newark Rowing Club. Six other crews made their event finals including the Mens Novice Four and Mens Novice Eight.

On the Sunday, Amelia Clow won the Womens Novice Single Sculls in fine style beating scullers from Thames RC and Welbeck College. Club mate Amy Lindsey won Womens Senior 4 Single Sculls by a clear margin over scullers from City of Cambridge RC and Thames RC.

Four other crews raced through qualifying rounds to race in their event finals, including Phil Dickens in the Mens Veteran Novice Single Sculls event.

Bedford Rowing club crews race next at Star Regatta weekend (16th/17th June) and Henley Womens Regatta (22nd to 24th June)
