Bedford Autumn Fours & Small Boats Head of the River Race - Sunday 15th October 2006

Bedford Rowing Club staged the annual Bedford Autumn Fours & Small Boats Head on Sunday 15th October over a 2000 metre course.

In beautiful conditions, crews from Bedford clubs and schools dominated with Bedford Rowing Club picking up 3 wins. Following on from racing at the Pairs' Head the previous day and being the fastest non-Thames based crew in their event, Nicky Hardy and Amelia Buckingham won women's Senior Three Double Sculls. In the men's Veteran E coxless fours, the Bedford crew of Ian Darnell, Dick Garrett, Tom Hinsbey and Dave Catlin beat their club mates of Maurice Stanbridge, Shirl Musselle, Chris Wisbey and Phil Dickens in a time of 7:43. The Women's Senior Two Coxed four of Claire Newton, Vicky Rigby, Gail Owen and Lydia Swift coxed by Sara Reay beat local rivals Milton Keynes Rowing club in a time of 8:02.

Other crews from Bedford won the following events: Bedford School - Men's Senior 3 Coxed Fours, Men's Novice Double Sculls.

Bedford Modern School - Men's Novice Quadruple Sculls, Men's Senior Four Coxed Fours, Men's Senior 4 Pairs, Men's Novice Pairs, Men's Junior 16 Single Sculls.

Dame Alice Harpur School - Women's Novice Quadruple Sculls, Women's Senior Three Coxed four

Bedford High School - Women's Junior Quadruple Sculls, Women's Junior Double Sculls, Women's Junior 15 Coxed Quadruple Sculls, Women's Novice Coxed Fours

Star Club - Women's Novice Single Sculls, Women's Senior Four Single Sculls, Women's Senior Three Single Sculls, Men's Senior 1 Single Sculls, Men's Senior 3 Single Sculls, Men's Senior 4 Single Sculls, Men's Senior 2 Quadruple Sculls, Women's Junior 15 Double Sculls, Women's Senior Four Double Sculls.
