Double medal joy for Leon Taylor at Commonwealth Rowing Championships.
Bedford's Leon Taylor topped off a successful season by being selected to compete for England at the Commonwealth Rowing Championships. The completion was held at Strathclyde Country Park just outside Glasgow over the weekend of 5th/6th August and welcomed competitors from ten Commonwealth countries.
On the Saturday, Leon and three fellow crew-mates, snatched Gold by 1.5 seconds from Wales and Scotland in the Men's Lightweight Quadruple Sculls in a time of 6 minutes 17 seconds.
In a tight race on the Sunday Leon picked up a second medal. A silver in the Men's Lightweight Double Sculls Event in a time of 6 minutes 45 seconds, a mere 1.5 seconds behind the winners from Scotland.
Bedford Rowing Club's outgoing captain Mike Hardy commented "This is an achievement that Leon should be proud of and we wish him well in his future international aspirations. "
