Press Release from Bedford Rowing Club - 19th June 2006
It was a golden day for Bedford Rowing Club at the National Veterans Championships held at Nottingham's Holme Pierpoint rowing course on Saturday 11th June.
Sara Reay rowing in the bow seat of a composite crew including Star Club's Miriam Taylor picked up 2 golds in both the Veteran B eights (crew average age 36) and Veteran C eights(crew average age 43). To top off her day, Reay coxed the winning crew in the Veteran E (crew average age 55) coxed fours event taking home a 3rd gold medal.
Dave Powell sculled with MIck Parker of Star Club to win gold by 4 seconds over Peterborough Rowing Club in the Veteran C (crew average age 43) double sculls event.
Bedford Rowing club races next at Richmond Regatta on Saturday 24th June.
The next event organised by Bedford Rowing Club is the Quarts Sprint Regatta on Sunday 9th July. The course runs over 650 metres from the suspension bridge to Bedford Rowing Club. Further details can be found at www.bedfordrowing.co.uk
