Veterans' Head 2006

Sara Reay from Bedford Rowing Club won Womens Veteran C Eights on Sunday at the 24th Vesta International Veterans' Head Of The River Race For Eights. Racing in a composite crew with amongst others Miram Taylor from Star Club, they beat 6 other crews to complete the course in 20 minutes 36 seconds, beating their nearest rivals by 12 seconds. The event draws athletes from around the UK and many overseas crews make a special trip to race over the 4 and ¼ mile course on the River Thames from Chiswick to Putney as used by the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race.

Bedford Rowing Club entered 2 eights in the annual Eights Head of the River Race in London on Saturday 25th March. The event draws athletes from around the UK and many overseas crews make a special trip to race over the 4 and ¼ mile course on the River Thames from Chiswick to Putney as used by the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race.

The first eight of Chris Hemmingway, Stuart Lewis, Doug Barrell, Tom Rob, Andy Corner, Mike Hardy, Richard White and Andy MacCartney raced over the course in a time of 19 minutes 40 seconds.

The second eight of Chris Bland, Michael Biggs, John Vendy, Andy Lynn, Simon Clark, Chris Phelps, Frank Noppel, Dave Keogh coxed by Wayne Page raced over the course in a time of 21 minutes 56 seconds.

The club will be racing in Bedford on Sunday 9th April, where Bedford Rowing Club is organising the Spring Fours and Small Boats Head which runs over 8 divisions from 09:15 to 17:30.
