Bedford Rowing Club, who were recently awarded £9,600 from Sport England to develop disability rowing in and around Bedford, ran an event for Para-rowers to promote this program at last weekend’s Four’s and Small Boats Head . Clare Connor of Cantabs Rowing Club, Cambridge led the field in this division and was awarded the Frank Toner Trophy for Rowability. The picture shows Mike Perry, Club President, awarding the trophy to Clare. Mr Perry said “It has been a fantastic event with a record number of competitors and my thanks go out to all the volunteers who ensure the smooth running of the event. It is especially pleasing that we are now able to offer a genuine event for rowers with a disability and I offer my hearty congratulation to Clare for being our first recipient of the Frank Toner Trophy”. Bedford are now awaiting delivery of their next fleet of stable boats to allow their disability programme to be expanded.
