Boxing Day Scratch Eights

For those unfamiliar with this event:

It takes place on Boxing morning and any rowing member of the club may take part.

Registration and the draw take place at approx.10.00a.m and all entries, male, female, junior, veteran, are put into a hat and drawn at random to form crews of eight. Coxes are of course needed and welcome.

In the past we have had five crews competing.

Crews race from approx the Weir to BRC. It is a free start controlled by the starter. The finish umpire’s decision is final.

Racing is normally over by 12.30 and the Scratch Eights Cup which is engraved with all winning final crews since 1997 is presented at approx 13.00.

It is a fun event for competitors and spectators, bacon rolls, coffee and drinks are available in the bar.

Come and join us, it’s great fun
