As part of our current programme to build an extension to the clubhouse, the second floor gable area of the extension was opened in early 1996 as a dedicated ergo room and Gym below. Fundraising efforts from grants, donations, events and profits from the social club have been used to equip the club with an enviable range of the latest equipment on and off the water.
These facilities are available to rowing members at all times. Unlike certain other clubs, Bedford Rowing Club own and manage all of their own training equipment and facilities; once you have paid your subscriptions you are free to use the ergos and the gym as many times as you wish (subject to ‘booking in’ to a rota system during busy periods) without further charge. Details of rowing membership are available on this site, or contact the Captain.
After the fire that completely gutted the building in 1984, the gable areas of the clubhouse were converted into useable rooms. After a generous donation from the family of the late Lord Godber, the committee room was re-decorated and named the Godber Room. This facility is ideal for small meetings and receptions. It is available for hire to businesses during the day and clubs/societies in the evenings.
