Pathway to Rio

Laura Dorrell, a junior member of Bedford Rowing Club, has been given the green light this week to be accepted onto the GB Rowing Team’s  ‘Start’ program. This is a talent pathway that aims to develop Laura’s talents over the next four years that could see Laura performing at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro or beyond.

Bedford Rowing Club now have a thriving junior section with 25 juniors rowers from schools across Bedford as well as Flitwick and Stevenage training on a regular basis.  The Club will be running a ‘Learn to Row’ course for juniors in April and anyone who is interested should contact Bedford RC also has another Laura who has her sights set high.

Laura Coteman, one of the Club’s disabled rowers, has been making good use of the Club’s upgraded facilities for disabled rowers, funded by both Sport England and the Harpur Trust. Laura has added rowing to her list of sports and has enjoyed it immensely. She has made such good progress that she will be taking part in ergometer trials in March at the GB Rowing Team base in Caversham to trial for the GB Adaptive squad.
