National Masters

The National Masters Regatta was held at Nottingham last weekend, with racing being over two days for the first time. The sculling events were held on Saturday and sweep-oared on Sunday. Bedford crews came away with a complete set of gold, silver and bronze.

Sarah Reay, in Masters E single sculls, came through a tricky qualifying heat to storm to victory in the final by almost 10 seconds.

The mens G double scull of Dave Catlin and Mike Harris also had a race to qualify for the final where they won bronze, just missing out on silver by half a second from Durham.

In the G eights there were 3 G crews and 1 H crew who had a 10 second handicap start. Bedford put in a strong challenge and reduced that to 5 seconds at the finish, but nevertheless came home in second place to earn a silver medal.

Next up for the eight is Henley Masters in three weeks time.
