Captain’s report February 2017
The New Year started with Star’s regatta on 15th. There were few of our crews entered as it was mainly a junior event and our juniors got some good race experience setting them up for this month’s head in bigger boats.
We also had Peterborough Head of the Nene where we entered 3 Bedford crews and one Bedford/Sheffield composite. The senior men had no competition but ere the fastest coxless 4 of the day. The Vet men lost out to a heavily handicapped ‘E’ boat and the women’s 4+ narrowly missed a win by 2 seconds, but shows great promise for Bedford Head.
The composite 8 won its division comfortably – well done to Sara and Lydia.
We have got Bedford Head coming up on the 12th of this month which has got record entries and as a club Bedford has also got a record 13 entries. Good luck to all racing.
With Paul at PC boat repairs being overwhelmed with work, we have not been able to send any more boats to him but boat 125 and Monkey Island are due to go this month.
The redecorating of the erg room is nearly complete so we will be looking to put mirrors and monitors up by the end of the month.
With grant money from the SCL programme, I have purchased £500 worth of gym equipment to be used by the juniors. These items are: 2 x 15kg bars, 1 x 10kg bar and a dip attachment for the squat rack.
My wife has asked that I make the committee aware that as of July 2017 a vacancy will exist for the position of Club Captain.
