Captain’s report December 2016
November started with Star head, with us having a good entry again and wins for the junior pair of Hanna and Charlotte. All though there were no other wins we had some very close seconds and everybody racing has showed a big improvement, and others used the race as a great training aid.
We also had 3 rowers go to the Scullers Head of the River. They were
Matt Farley 78th
David Glasspool, 235th
Sara Reay. 322nd and winner of W.Mas. E
Proving dedication and hard training pays off.
On the social side we had the awards evening which again proved to be a success, with many rowers getting unexpected awards.
Paul at PC Boat repairs has been busy again and has fully refurbed 124 and also repaired all the damage to the coxed 4 John Mingay. He is now working on Jack Pope and sadly will be having 125 back as this has been damaged and needs professional repairs.
The gym is almost finished and we are now looking to run induction courses for each squad.
Thank you to all members who have given their time and trade skills to put in varies things such as water drinkers, inside and outside lighting, also the members who helped with the construction and instillation of the wooded walls and other gym fixtures.
Both Joel and Martin commented to me how our club really does have a good atmosphere where a lot of people muck in to help the club and ultimately save it money.
We have an immediate need to fill the position of junior coach, as Tim and Andy have both stepped down. I would like to thank both of them for all they have done, especially Tim who has been junior coach for 3 years
