Bedford's Juniors Perform well at GB Trials

Posted In : Juniors

After meeting the selection criteria Emma Crouch (Bedford RC) and Imogen Leigh (Yarm School) raced at the GB Junior Trials regatta at the weekend in JW2-. This regatta is used to determine who will be seat raced for international vests in the summer.

The field was tough but after a strong performance at the small boats head the girls entered the weekend in a positive mind set with stacks of self-belief.

The girls started the day off with a solid time trial positioning themselves comfortably 6th giving themselves a good seed in a very gusty cross wind. In their semi the girls got off to a slow start but showed real grit and composure to row through half the field to beat a Marlow crew that they lost to in February to gain a place in the A final. The field was much stronger than the long distance trial in February and the girls showed their talent and confidence in their own ability to get to the A final and finish 6th against mostly school crews.
