Bedford Rowers at Great Britain Rowing Trials

Posted In : Latest News

Emma Crouch from Bedford Rowing Club teamed up with Imogen Leigh from Yarm School to race at the GB trials in Boston over last weekend.  The trials were held in freezing conditions over a 5km course and are designed to test the mettle of the triallists. Emma, from Sandy Upper School, started her rowing career three years ago, in Year 9.

With only a handful of training outings with her new partner as well as the need to travel to Yarm for some of the sessions Emma has really committed herself to the project.

Their new coach, George Tallboys, said ‘They just clicked after the first outing’. George was really pleased with the girls’ performance which on Saturday saw them finish a creditable 3rd followed by a Sunday finish of 6th in a larger and stronger field of pairs.

Emma was not the only Bedford-based girl racing with the Bedford Girls School pair finishing in 11th place on the Sunday.
