Sunday’s Fours and Small boats Head event was the biggest in its 44 year history with more than 800 rowers taking part with ages ranging from 14 to over 70. The biggest entry of the day was from Bedford Rowing Club with 36 entries. Crews from all sections of the club raced with a fair degree of success notching up 10 wind altogether.  The Novice coxed four of Ryan King, Jacob Lee, Gareth Edwards, Sam Baker and cox Sara Reay set a time of 6:57 which proved to be unbeatable over the whole day and a new combination for the IM3 coxed four of Jonti Vincent, Matt Farley, George Elliot, Mike Evans and cox Charlie Chandler continued this winning way, in setting a competitive time of 6:38 to pick up their own trophy.

Corrine Larkworthy performed exceptionally at both women’s under 18 and women’s intermediate 2 single sculls, winning both in competitive times against a strong field. The Masters rowers proved that with age comes great speed, with a pleasing victory for Sara Reay in the singles sculls. Mike Harris was a triple winner, first in the veteran single, then teaming up with Dave Caitlin to win masters double sculls and in his third race of the day in a coxless four he rowed with Bill Sadler, Dave Caitlin and Richard White to gain his third pot of the day.
