Bedford Amateur Regatta 2012 – CANCELLED

It is with great regret that the Bedford Regatta Committee has had to cancel the 2012 Regatta.

Every effort has been made to hold this event; ultimately it was decided that the stream in the Start Marshalling area was too fast to safely marshal boats, spin them, and attach to the stakeboats.

Bedford Rowing Club had 2 Intermediate 3 Eights. Bedford I started at number 230, and hoped to maintain that position – they finished 214th, which is very pleasing, and shows promise for the regatta season.

Bedford II started at number 295, but slipped to finish at 382. This was also a good performance for a very novice crew in their first experience of the Tideway, and the first time in many years that we have seat raced for TWO Tideway eights.

Congratulations are due to the ‘other’ club, who picked up the Jackson for the second year running. A quarter of their crew learnt to row at BRC…

There are also 2 club members racing in a Women’s Masters B composite with Furnivall Sculling Club in the Vesta Veterans Head on Sunday. Race starts at noon.

Environment Agency Licenses from April 2012 – Early Payment Discount

Dear all boat owners,

It’s that time again, when we have to license our boats to satisfy the Enviroment Agency regulations for the period April 2012 to March 2013.
The fee this year is £25, but we are able to offer an early payment incentive taking it down to £21 if you pay on or before Sunday 15th April. Any payments received after Sunday 15th April will be £25.

Please make cheques payable to ‘Bedford Rowing Club’, and please include a note as to which boat it applies to and give to Lydia Swift. Receipts will be issued in May.
